Position Description
Position: Program Worker, No Interest Loan Scheme (NILs)
Hours: 30 hours per fortnight (6 x 5 hour days – Tues, Weds, Friday)
Tenure: Permanent position dependent on continued program funding.
Salary: Social, Community, Home Care, and Disability Services Industry Award. SCHADS 2.1 ($33.41/hr)

About No Interest Loan Scheme (NILs)
The No Interest Loan Scheme is a program facilitated by Good Shepherd Australia and New Zealand to assist low income earners to purchase essential goods and services using a zero interest loan product. Loans are repaid on a regular and aƯordable basis, empowering people to complete the loan without having to access unsafe credit practices
Job Description:
Join our supportive and dedicated team in a rewarding role that directly supports individuals within the community who are unable to access safe credit for essential items and services. As a NILS (No Interest Loan Scheme) Worker, you will play a crucial role in helping vulnerable clients navigate the loan application process while promoting financial resilience.
In this role, you will:
Assist clients in applying for NILs loans by providing guidance and support throughout the process.
Review and assess supporting documentation to ensure eligibility for the loan. Accurately input client details into the loan application database.
Work closely with clients to develop personalised budgets, ensuring that the loan is aƯordable and sustainable based on their income and expenses.
Foster a supportive and empathetic environment, offering referrals, advice,e and assistance as needed to help clients after the loan process

What you need to be successful in this role:
Demonstrated understanding of social justice principles
Computer literacy, including Google suite and online collaboration Knowledge of budgeting
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent organisational skills and a demonstrated capacity to work flexibly and within tight timeframes
